Terms & Conditions

1. General

These Terms & Conditions govern all transactions between Ciwind Solar (Pty) Ltd (“Ciwind Solar”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) and the customer (“you” or “the customer”). By placing an order, making payment, or using our website or services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.


2. Payment Terms

2.1 Accepted Payment Methods

Ciwind Solar accepts the following payment methods:

  • Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
  • Direct bank deposits (a 2% bank levy applies)

Cash payments are not accepted at any of our warehouses.

2.2 Payment Processing

  • Please use your order number as the payment reference.
  • Orders are processed only after full payment has reflected in our bank account.
  • Proof of payment may be requested to assist with verification; however, orders will not be dispatched based on proof of payment alone.
  • Payment verification may take up to 24 hours.

3. Order Processing & Stock

  • Products are stored at our Johannesburg warehouses.
  • Orders will only be dispatched once payment has fully cleared.
  • Ciwind Solar reserves the right to delay dispatch due to stock availability, payment verification, or operational constraints.

4. Shipping & Delivery

4.1 Shipping Policy

  • We offer free shipping within South Africa only.
  • All goods are shipped via third-party courier companies.
  • Delivery typically takes 2–10 working days, depending on courier schedules and order volumes.

4.2 Risk & Responsibility

  • Once goods leave Ciwind Solar’s premises or warehouses, risk transfers to the customer.
  • Goods are shipped without insurance, unless insurance is specifically requested by the customer.

4.3 Liability

Ciwind Solar will not be held liable for any loss or damage during transit, including but not limited to theft, hijacking, fire, mishandling, negligence, weather events, or force majeure.

4.4 Additional Packaging

Fragile items, including solar panels, may require specialised packaging, which may incur additional costs.

4.5 Proof of Delivery

Any delivery note or waybill signed by the customer or a representative will constitute proof of delivery.


5. Returns & Refunds

5.1 Unopened & Sealed Products

  • Unopened and sealed products may be returned within 7 days of purchase for a full refund, at the customer’s expense.
  • The original tax invoice must be provided.

5.2 Opened & Unsealed Products

  • Opened products may be returned within 7 days, subject to inspection.
  • A 10% handling fee will be deducted from the refund.
  • Products must include all accessories, original packaging, and the original tax invoice.

5.3 Non-Returnable Items

No refunds or exchanges will be granted for products that have been:

  • Installed
  • Used
  • Scratched or damaged in any way

6. Inspection of Returned Goods

  • All returns are subject to inspection by our sales and technical teams.
  • Warranty seals and serial numbers must be intact and match our records.
  • Any signs of tampering will render warranties and return eligibility null and void.

7. Damaged Goods

Damaged goods must be reported within 7 working days of delivery. Failure to report within this timeframe will result in the product being processed under standard warranty terms.


8. Warranty Terms

8.1 Manufacturer Warranty

All products supplied by Ciwind Solar are subject to the manufacturer’s warranty.
Your sole remedy is to request Ciwind Solar to enforce the manufacturer’s warranty on your behalf.

8.2 Installation Requirements

  • Inverters and batteries must be installed by a qualified wireman or Master Electrician registered with the Department of Labour.
  • A valid Electrical Certificate of Compliance (COC) is required.
  • Installations must comply with SANS 10142 and all applicable standards.
  • Warranty claims without installation photos, a valid COC, and proof of qualified installation may be rejected.

8.3 Warranty Exclusions

Warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  • Power surges, under-voltage, over-voltage, or lightning
  • Corrosion, sea spray, condensation, water, dust, sand, insects, or animals
  • Excessive heat or weather damage
  • Incorrect installation or negligence
  • Inadequate protection devices
  • Tampering or broken seals
  • Exceeding rated electrical limits

8.4 Warranty Void Conditions

Warranty will be void if:

  • Installed contrary to manufacturer specifications
  • Inadequate surge protection or breakers are used
  • Battery inputs are not properly fused
  • The unit is tampered with or visibly damaged

8.5 Warranty Processing Time

Warranty returns require 7–30 working days for assessment, repair, or replacement.


9. Order Cancellations

  • Cancellation requests must be submitted via email to the sales team.
  • Requests must include the reason for cancellation and banking details.
  • A 48-hour cancellation window applies from order placement.
    • Within 48 hours: No penalty
    • After 48 hours: 5% processing fee applies

10. Privacy & Data Protection

Ciwind Solar respects your privacy and processes personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. Personal information is used solely for order processing, communication, service delivery, and marketing (unless you opt out). We do not sell personal information to third parties.


11. Limitation of Liability

Ciwind Solar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our products, services, or website, except where required by law.


12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
